Although the SpinLord Ultra Power is no longer our fastest blade, it is still clearly an OFF+ blade. Anyone looking for a lightweight, high-performance offensive blade without a balsa core veneer will find it hard to look past this one – there are hardly any comparable blades on the market.
The face veneers are made from 1.0 mm-thick hinoki of the finest quality. The particularly expensive synthetic fibre insert between the outer veneers is made from aramid. This gives the blade a level of stability similar to carbon, but it is significantly softer on impact, allowing for more controlled play without losing speed.
The core veneer consists of 5.0 mm-thick kiri wood. Usually, only balsa core veneers are this thick. Nevertheless, at just approx. 82 g, this blade is unusually light, especially for this speed class. This blade therefore has a total of 3+2 veneers.
The playing surface measures approximately 155 x 152 mm. The Ultra Power is not as head-heavy as many other offensive blades, and thanks to the lightweight handle cups, it is not handle-heavy either. This shifts the blade’s centre of gravity towards the centre. Combined with the aramid synthetic fibre insert, this significantly enlarges the optimal sweet spot, noticeably improving the blade's control. The blade plays 'as if on rails', reacting exactly as expected in every playing situation.
However, you do need to like the somewhat distinctive feel of Hinoki. Although it is soft, it is direct with a shorter ball contact time and 'crisp' on impact, producing a rich sound.
Hinoki blades are not particularly well suited to beginners in competitive play. We recommend pairing it with softer, more elastic rubbers as we believe these are the best match for a Hinoki blade.
If you’re unsure whether this blade is right for you, we recommend the Carbon Spin OFF as an alternative. It's similarly fast and high-quality, offering great control. It's also more 'mass-market' and combines well with all types of rubber. The only drawback of the Carbon Spin OFF, in our opinion, is its greater weight.
The Ultra Power's handles are standard size.
Update: the Ultra Power's handles will soon be made from solid Hinoki rather than balsa. This will not affect the weight of the blade or its playing characteristics. We reserve the right to supply the latest version if the previous model has sold out.

The values given for speed, spin, control and disruption are based on our own tests. They may therefore differ from the manufacturer's specifications.
Some values may vary, for example the weight of table tennis blades.
The playing surfaces (outer veneers) of this table tennis blade must be sealed to prevent damage to the blade.
If they are not sealed, the rubber adhesive can seep into the top veneer, causing it to flake off.
Furthermore, the top veneer may fray when the rubber is removed.
