The SpinLord Tanuki is a premium rubber manufactured entirely in Japan. It is the oldest model in the Tanuki series.

Thanks to its grip and elasticity, it offers tremendous speed and high spin. The Tanuki is significantly more elastic than Chinese-made rubbers and has a greater catapult effect.

Its top sheet grip is comparable to that of the SpinLord Tiger, meaning the Tanuki is slightly grippier than the Irbis but less grippy than the rubbers in the Marder series.

Although the sponge has a hardness rating of 43 degrees, it feels similar to Chinese sponges with a hardness rating of 38 degrees. Overall, therefore, the Tanuki is roughly the same firmness as the SpinLord Irbis and is thus slightly firmer than our softest rubbers.

Its high build quality and durability make the Tanuki an absolute top-of-the-range rubber. It is not only more durable than "Made in China" rubbers, but also more durable than almost all German-made rubbers. Consequently, despite its slightly higher price, the Tanuki offers the best value for money of all our rubbers.

In terms of play, the Tanuki is designed for dynamic offensive play with an emphasis on varied topspins using long arm movements. However, all other shots can also be executed with ease. Overall, the Tanuki is significantly more versatile than Chinese rubbers.

We would also describe the Tanuki's playing characteristics as straightforward and highly predictable. Even the catapult effect is linear.

The soft sponge, long ball contact time and high control-to-speed ratio make the Tanuki easy to control, even for lower-performance players.

It also combines well with all types of blades.

In terms of weight, this rubber is at the very light end of the scale – the Tanuki is the lightest rubber in our range.

There are two further versions of the Tanuki:

Tanuki Pro: a slightly more modern version with a stronger built-in quick-stick effect, but not faster overall.
Tanuki II: significantly faster, with a significantly stronger built-in tension effect.

OX rubbers should be attached to the blade using an adhesive sheet. This is not included if you purchase a SpinLord rubber.

For rubbers with sponge, use a suitable VOC-free glue to attach them to the blade. Do not use glue sticks, adhesives containing solvents or any adhesive not specifically designed for table tennis rubbers.

Rubbers should only be attached to sealed blades.

Please note that we cannot guarantee that the rubber can be reattached multiple times. Depending on the type of sponge used, it may be damaged when removed from the blade, even with professional assembly.

Please also note that rubbers may warp to a greater or lesser extent depending on the type. Consequently, the amount of rubber adhesive required to assemble the racket varies from rubber to rubber.
Please refer to the instructions for using the rubber adhesive.
