The SpinLord Gigant represents a breakthrough in the development of anti-spins with friction.
The sponge of the Gigant is the same extremely slow dampening sponge that is also used for the Lion Mantlet.
However, the top rubber of the Gigant is significantly different, so that the playing characteristics of both rubbers are hardly comparable overall. It is hard, but unlike that of the Lion Mantlet, it is still slightly elastic.
The surface is not simply sanded down or completely smooth as a result of treatment. Instead, the top-sheet is untreated and has very low residual grip due to the extremely non-grippy rubber compound.
Due to the soft dampening sponge, the ball contact with the Gigant is still rather soft overall.
In passive play, the Gigant is almost as slow as the Mantlet, but much more dangerous. This means that block balls can not only be placed safely and short, but they also have a slight disruptive effect that is not present with the Mantlet. This significantly reduces the risk of being “shot down” due to harmless block balls. To be fair, however, it must also be said that the Gigant is not quite as easy to play with block balls as the Mantlet. Nevertheless, the control is still exceptionally high.
The Gigant absorbs almost all of the opponent's spin, but can also generate its own. With the Gigant, it is even possible to play poisonous backspin balls, which make it extremely difficult for the opponent to play a topspin. Your own offensive shots are more difficult to execute, but still possible and also a good option to confuse your opponent. However, the power is far from sufficient for hard finishing shots.
The Gigant should be played with slightly adapted "pimple-in" stroke techniques. It is also suitable as an alternative to a Glanti or a long pimple, as the transition from these two types of rubber is quite easy. The player will usually lose some disruptive effect, but gain significantly in control.
The Gigant is suitable for both table play and classic backspin defense. Players will score most points with its exceptionally short ball flight curve. Even fast topspins from the opponent can be placed extremely close to the net.
The Gigant is also an extremely light rubber and of the highest quality.

The values given for speed, spin, control and disruption are based on our own tests. They may therefore differ from the manufacturer's specifications.
Some values may vary, for example the weight of table tennis blades.
OX rubbers should be attached to the blade using an adhesive sheet. This is not included if you purchase a SpinLord rubber.
For rubbers with sponge, use a suitable VOC-free glue to attach them to the blade. Do not use glue sticks, adhesives containing solvents or any adhesive not specifically designed for table tennis rubbers.
Rubbers should only be attached to sealed blades.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that the rubber can be reattached multiple times. Depending on the type of sponge used, it may be damaged when removed from the blade, even with professional assembly.
Please also note that rubbers may warp to a greater or lesser extent depending on the type. Consequently, the amount of rubber adhesive required to assemble the racket varies from rubber to rubber.
