The texture:
The rubber compound of the “Dornenglanz III” contains a high proportion of artificial polymers. This makes the rubber more elastic and slower than many other long pimples. The rubber compound is relatively soft overall, but still noticeably harder than that of the extremely soft “Dornenglanz X”.
The pimples themselves are slightly wider than most other long pimples from SpinLord and very robust. The spacing between the pimples is average. The very grippy pimples have a cylindrical shape with a small, conical reinforcement at the base of the pimple. The pimple heads are finely ribbed.
The pimples bend only slightly when playing. The ball flight curve of the “Dornenglanz III” is very short and rather flat.
There is hardly any “bounce effect” (sudden strong acceleration in active play) with Dornenglanz III.
Playing characteristics:
The “Dornenglanz III” is particularly suitable for playing at the table, as it is designed for an active and aggressive playing style. It can also be played effectively without using the wrist and can be combined well with blades of all speed classes.
According to one of our test players, the “Dornenglanz III” is our best long pimple rubber for actively attacking your opponent's balls.
It is also ideal for playing block balls (active and passive). When playing block balls, its playing characteristics are similar to those of the “Zeitgeist,” but it is more effective and dangerous when playing active shots. Overall, the “Dornenglanz III” can therefore be considered an improved version of the “Zeitgeist” (rather than a new version of the ‘Dornenglanz’ or “Dornenglanz II”).
However, the Dornenglanz III does not achieve the disruptive effect of the Dornenglanz when blocking.
The classic undercut defense is also quite effective with the “Dornenglanz III.”
The sponge version makes the undercut defense even more effective and is therefore a good option for classic defenders. The sponge version is hardly any faster than the non-sponge version, but the control is slightly lower. However, when it comes to playing block balls, the “Dornenglanz III” with sponge is significantly weaker than the non-sponge version.
The sponge is a very slow and soft “Made in China” sponge. Overall, the “Dornenglanz III” with 1.0 mm is still slower than other long pimpled rubbers with “ox”.
As with almost all SpinLord rubbers, the control values of the “Dornenglanz III” are very high. Therefore, it is also very suitable for players in lower leagues and for players who have not played with long pips before.
Conclusion:
We think that those who have been satisfied with rubbers such as the “Zeitgeist,” the “Strahlkraft,” or the old version of the ‘Stachelfeuer’ will especially love the new version of the “Dornenglanz III.” Players who find the “Dornenglanz” too difficult to play should also try this rubber.

The values given for speed, spin, control and disruption are based on our own tests. They may therefore differ from the manufacturer's specifications.

OX rubbers should be attached to the blade using an adhesive sheet. This is not included if you purchase a SpinLord rubber.
For rubbers with sponge, use a suitable VOC-free glue to attach them to the blade. Do not use glue sticks, adhesives containing solvents or any adhesive not specifically designed for table tennis rubbers.
Rubbers should only be attached to sealed blades.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that the rubber can be reattached multiple times. Depending on the type of sponge used, it may be damaged when removed from the blade, even with professional assembly.
Please also note that rubbers may warp to a greater or lesser extent depending on the type. Consequently, the amount of rubber adhesive required to assemble the racket varies from rubber to rubber.
