“Any slower and you’ll be playing the ball backwards” – that’s how the GeblockTT YouTubers described the Anti Lion Mantlet in 2018.
Now, Lion with the E-Shield and Spinlord with the Quokka II are introducing Antis that are even slower than the Mantlet. Unfortunately, you still can’t play the ball backwards with these either.
The E-Shield is slightly slower and significantly softer than the Mantlet, while the Quokka II is only slightly softer but significantly slower. The same applies in a direct comparison with the SpinLord Gigant, of course.
The top sheet of the Quokka II is the same as that of the Quokka – it is therefore sanded down and offers a grip similar to the Mantlet, but it is more elastic. Although the E-Shield's top sheet is also sanded down, it is nevertheless slightly grippier than the top sheets of the other anti-spin rubbers from Lion and SpinLord. However, this is probably not due to the manufacturing process, but rather to the significantly softer and slightly more elastic rubber compound.
All the Lion and SpinLord anti-spin rubbers mentioned so far are generally quite similar in terms of playability and disruptive effect, although the Mantlet falls short of the others in this respect, as well as in terms of the spin it can generate. The E-Shield is perhaps the most dangerous of them all, albeit with slightly poorer control.
We would recommend the Quokka II as a good alternative for players looking for a rubber similar to the Gigant, but with even less speed.
The Lion E-Shield is somewhat more distinctive in terms of play. Unlike the Gigant, Mantlet and Quokka II rubbers, it does not have the same red damping sponge, but rather a slightly more elastic blue damping sponge which is also very soft.
Contact time with the E-Shield is longer than with the Quokka II and it feels slightly livelier despite its very low speed. However, it doesn't dampen the ball quite as drastically as the Quokka II during passive blocking. Whether this is an advantage or a disadvantage is likely a matter of personal preference.
Conclusion: It is clear that the anti-spin rubbers – Lion Mantlet, SpinLord Gigant, Lion E-Shield and SpinLord Quokka II – come from the same factory and differ only subtly in some respects.
The Lion Mantlet focuses primarily on total control. However, in most other respects, particularly in terms of disruptive effect, it performs the weakest.
The SpinLord Gigant still offers the most spin and speed.
The Lion E-Shield is the most elastic and provides the softest ball contact.
The SpinLord Quokka II is the slowest anti-spin rubber.
All of the aforementioned rubbers are extremely light, durable and well-made.
Compared to the Quokka, the Quokka II is, first and foremost, much slower and slightly more controlled. However, the Quokka II's disruptive effect is lower than that of the Quokka, which has an unusually high disruptive effect for an anti-spin rubber.

The values given for speed, spin, control and disruption are based on our own tests. They may therefore differ from the manufacturer's specifications.
Some values may vary, for example the weight of table tennis blades.
OX rubbers should be attached to the blade using an adhesive sheet. This is not included if you purchase a SpinLord rubber.
For rubbers with sponge, use a suitable VOC-free glue to attach them to the blade. Do not use glue sticks, adhesives containing solvents or any adhesive not specifically designed for table tennis rubbers.
Rubbers should only be attached to sealed blades.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that the rubber can be reattached multiple times. Depending on the type of sponge used, it may be damaged when removed from the blade, even with professional assembly.
Please also note that rubbers may warp to a greater or lesser extent depending on the type. Consequently, the amount of rubber adhesive required to assemble the racket varies from rubber to rubber.
