This offer naturally refers to the new version of the Defender II. However, as the original model has not been available for several years, it will no longer be included in the product description with immediate effect.
The new version of the Defender II differs from the original only in terms of its handle design.
As a reminder, the Defender I had a different veneer combination to the Defender II but the same handle design. The new version of the Defender II differs from the original only in terms of the handle design; the veneer combination remains unchanged. This is why we are not calling this blade the Defender III.
The handle shells are now made from solid, unstained hinoki wood. In our opinion, this makes the wood look even more premium. Furthermore, the blade's weight has been reduced by an average of approx. 2 g thanks to the particularly light Hinoki wood. The type of wood used for the handle shells only minimally affects the playing characteristics; the new version of the Defender II is perhaps a touch slower than the old one.
The size of the slightly enlarged playing surface (approx. 162 x 157 mm) remains unchanged.
This blade's outer veneers are made of medium-hard Limba, its core veneer of soft Ayous, and its intermediate veneers of hard Koto. Consequently, the blade is slightly stiffer and harder to hit with than usual for a defensive blade, without compromising feel or control. This means that the disruptive effect can be increased slightly when combined with 'material'.
The Defender II is one of the faster defensive blades and is therefore ideal for modern defensive play, combining frequent offensive disruptive shots with classic defence.
Thanks to its slightly larger hitting surface, this blade is best suited to players who use long pimples or anti-spin rubbers on the backhand side. It is also possible to combine a faster forehand rubber with an inverted rubber with thin sponge on the backhand. However, combining it with two faster rubbers is not advisable.

The values given for speed, spin, control and disruption are based on our own tests. They may therefore differ from the manufacturer's specifications.
Some values may vary, for example the weight of table tennis blades.
The playing surfaces (outer veneers) of this table tennis blade must be sealed to prevent damage to the blade.
If they are not sealed, the rubber adhesive can seep into the top veneer, causing it to flake off.
Furthermore, the top veneer may fray when the rubber is removed.
