The Waran III is not a completely new rubber; rather, it is an improvement on the Waran and the Waran II.
The top sheet has not been changed, as there is no reason to do so given that it remains one of the fastest and hardest available.
The purple sponge of the Waran III, incidentally the same as that used in the Ozelot Pro, is a new 2023 development. Ten years ago, the sponge in the Waran II was the manufacturer's top model, but much has changed since then.
Consequently, the differences between the two sponges are quite significant.
The Waran III’s sponge is harder than that of the Waran and slightly softer than that of the Waran II (both with a hardness rating of 44–46 degrees). Not only is it considerably faster and has greater catapult power, it is also significantly more elastic.
Consequently, the Waran III generates slightly more spin than its predecessors. While it’s not quite a topspin rubber, it’s now easier to apply a bit of topspin alongside blisteringly hard shots.
The speed and catapult effect of the Waran III must be experienced first-hand – compared to the Waran, the Waran III is lightning fast.
It should be noted, however, that as the top sheets are identical, the difference in speed is greatest with the 2.0 mm version and smallest with the 1.5 mm version (though it is still clearly noticeable even then).
The Waran III is aimed at players who can handle this extreme speed, but the control is still very good given the speed. It is certainly not a rubber for passive blocking shots, but rather for players who actively and aggressively attack and only play passively when absolutely necessary.
For those asking about the disruptive effect: With a rubber like the Waran III, it's not about the disruptive effect. It's about winning the rally immediately with a hard offensive shot. The Waran III poses a threat to opponents due to its flat ball trajectory and speed; the disruptive effect caused by pimples bending over, which is common with long pimples, simply does not exist with this rubber.
As a backhand rubber, the Waran III is therefore likely to be suitable only for very offensive players. However, for use as a forehand rubber, the target audience is likely to be broader. For example, if you play with a slow blade and long-pimpled rubber on your backhand, and want a rubber that will enable you to attack powerfully with your forehand despite your blade, the Waran III could be the right solution for you.
The Waran III is also suitable for top-league players.
One very positive aspect is that, although the Waran III is heavier than the Waran, it is significantly lighter than the Waran II (and the Wyvern too). Its weight is therefore not an issue, and it can be combined with heavier blades.
Naturally, due to its innovative sponge, the Waran III is significantly more expensive than its predecessors.
Please note that the sponge in the Waran III is one of the more porous types. It can easily become damaged when peeled off the bat. Therefore, it is not advisable to re-glue this rubber repeatedly.

The values given for speed, spin, control and disruption are based on our own tests. They may therefore differ from the manufacturer's specifications.
Some values may vary, for example the weight of table tennis blades.
OX rubbers should be attached to the blade using an adhesive sheet. This is not included if you purchase a SpinLord rubber.
For rubbers with sponge, use a suitable VOC-free glue to attach them to the blade. Do not use glue sticks, adhesives containing solvents or any adhesive not specifically designed for table tennis rubbers.
Rubbers should only be attached to sealed blades.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that the rubber can be reattached multiple times. Depending on the type of sponge used, it may be damaged when removed from the blade, even with professional assembly.
Please also note that rubbers may warp to a greater or lesser extent depending on the type. Consequently, the amount of rubber adhesive required to assemble the racket varies from rubber to rubber.
