The Carbon Spin Off is as thick as the now discontinued Ultra Balsa V balsa wood blade. It looks like a balsa wood blade and plays almost like one, but it isn’t.
This is made possible by a new combination of veneers that has never been seen before, so it is a closely guarded secret.
The outer veneers are made of walnut and there are also two layers of carbon, making a total of seven veneers (5+2).
This blade has tremendous power and is actually well into the OFF+ speed range.
It weighs approximately 88 g. There is no option for a different weight as almost all blades weigh between 86 and 90 g.
Despite being top-heavy and quite stiff, the ball contact is surprisingly soft and responsive.
The blade also produces a great sound; it really cracks on all offensive shots.
The hitting surface measures approx. 155 x 152 mm (standard size). Please note that, as with the Ultra Allround, blades with Chinese penholder handles have a slightly larger playing surface.
The handles are of standard thickness and sit comfortably in the hand. The handle shells are made from solid hinoki.
The workmanship is first-class. The blade is very robust.
This blade significantly increases spin values.
The high speed values particularly support an attacking style of play that prioritises speed.
We recommend the Carbon Spin OFF primarily for players who use short pimples. In our opinion, it is too fast for long pimples.
It can, of course, be combined perfectly with inverted rubbers, but not with two very heavy rubbers. Otherwise, there are no restrictions.
The Carbon Spin OFF has a catapult effect of its own. When used with Chinese rubbers, it compensates for their slightly lower catapult effect compared to German and Japanese rubbers. At the same time, the strengths of these rubbers in terms of spin are highlighted and enhanced. Therefore, combining this blade with rubbers such as the Dragon-L Max provides a similar feel to combining a Tensor rubber with a conventional blade. However, combining this blade with a rubber such as the SpinLord Tanuki II produces a result in terms of speed, catapult effect and spin that should satisfy even top-level players.
Overall, the Carbon Spin OFF is arguably our fastest offensive blade, but be warned: it really is very fast. If you play predominantly passively, this is definitely not the blade for you. It calls for a totally offensive approach! When combined with slower rubbers — for example, on the backhand side — controlled blocks and backspin shots are also possible.
The control is impressive given the speed.
In terms of playability and quality, the Carbon Spin OFF can easily compete with blades from other manufacturers costing up to €400.00; the only drawback is the somewhat simpler design. The SpinLord MIG2 pales in comparison to this blade. Whilst the MIG2 is better suited to long pimples, we would give preference to this blade for all other types of rubber.

The values given for speed, spin, control and disruption are based on our own tests. They may therefore differ from the manufacturer's specifications.

The playing surfaces (outer veneers) of this table tennis blade must be sealed to prevent damage to the blade.
If they are not sealed, the rubber adhesive can seep into the top veneer, causing it to flake off.
Furthermore, the top veneer may fray when the rubber is removed.
