Visually, the SpinLord Tanuki II remains identical to the other versions of the Tanuki and uses the Tanuki’s ITTF approval. As usual, it features a white sponge.
However, the medium-hard sponge is a completely new development for 2025 and offers significantly more power than the sponge used in the Tanuki Pro. As a result, the speed is not just slightly, but significantly higher. This makes the Tanuki II by far the fastest rubber in our range.
The grippy top sheet is identical to that of the Tanuki Pro, and the feel is also very similar overall.
The Tanuki II features an extremely strong built-in speed glue effect and high ball acceleration. The speed is now easily sufficient for a powerful game from mid-distance.
The Tanuki II is therefore a Japanese ‘high-tension’ rubber of the latest generation and not a ‘hybrid’ rubber.
Although the sponge’s hardness is specified as 45 degrees, the ball contact is medium-hard with a tendency towards medium-soft. The ball contact time is remarkably long.
This becomes particularly clear in a direct comparison with the Ozelot Pro: the Tanuki II is softer, but also significantly more dynamic and less linear in its playing behaviour. It is certainly more demanding to play, but in return is considerably more powerful, particularly with dynamic topspins.
The Tanuki II weighs only approx. 62 g uncut (size approx. 18 x 17 cm) without the protective film. When cut to size, it weighs approx. 10–15 g less than typical sticky Chinese rubbers.
That is why it is also our top recommendation as a forehand rubber for players who use a heavy, sticky Chinese rubber on their backhand. This combination works perfectly with the Tanuki II, even on heavy blades.
The Tanuki II is also still easy to control for most players in lower leagues. However, there are likely to be some players for whom it is too fast or has too much catapult effect, whereas this was actually rarely the case with the Tanuki or the Tanuki Pro.
The Tanuki II can, of course, also be used effectively in higher divisions, though it may be a little too soft for absolute top players.
This rubber is the right choice if you primarily play a powerful, attacking game and only wish to play passively on occasion. With the Tanuki II, however, blocks and backspin shots are also easy to play, in stark contrast to some similarly fast rubbers from competitors.
There are too many small suppliers who merely promise that their (mostly Chinese-made) budget rubbers are on a par with expensive branded rubbers. SpinLord, on the other hand, not only keeps this promise with the Japanese-made ‘Tanuki II’, but can even confidently claim that the ‘Tanuki II’ is better than most expensive branded rubbers.
In short: this rubber is truly the best that this Japanese factory can currently produce. Of course, a Butterfly “Zyre” is significantly faster, but also more difficult to control. However, the Tanuki II can keep up with significantly more expensive top-tier rubbers from other manufacturers without any compromise, or is even better.
Please therefore understand that the price of the Tanuki II is slightly higher. However, when you take into account its excellent durability and absolutely flawless workmanship, the Tanuki II actually offers significantly better value for money than most rubbers from China.

The values given for speed, spin, control and disruption are based on our own tests. They may therefore differ from the manufacturer's specifications.

OX rubbers should be attached to the blade using an adhesive sheet. This is not included if you purchase a SpinLord rubber.
For rubbers with sponge, use a suitable VOC-free glue to attach them to the blade. Do not use glue sticks, adhesives containing solvents or any adhesive not specifically designed for table tennis rubbers.
Rubbers should only be attached to sealed blades.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that the rubber can be reattached multiple times. Depending on the type of sponge used, it may be damaged when removed from the blade, even with professional assembly.
Please also note that rubbers may warp to a greater or lesser extent depending on the type. Consequently, the amount of rubber adhesive required to assemble the racket varies from rubber to rubber.
