Dornenglanz X: A very slow, soft, and long pimple with the pimple geometry of Dornenglanz and an extremely robust rubber compound.
The characteristics:
The pimple geometry (height and width of the pimples as well as the distance between them) is exactly the same as that of Dornenglanz. However, the pimple tops are ribbed.
The rubber compound, on the other hand, has been completely redesigned. Its main feature is its robustness. Despite the very thin pimples, the “Dornenglanz X” is our most robust long pimple. Pimple breakage is virtually impossible when used as intended.
The rubber compound is also soft, elastic, and speed-reducing, making the “Dornenglanz X” one of our slowest long pimples (the speed is slightly lower than that of the “Dornenglanz III”).
Playing characteristics (ox version):
The 'Dornenglanz X' is the perfect long pimple rubber for disruptive play at the table.
If you are looking for a long pimple rubber with soft, quick-bending pimples that allow you to easily and aggressively attack enemy strokes, this is the right choice for you.
Unlike the “Dornenglanz,” the “Dornenglanz X” does not have a particularly high disruptive effect in passive play. So you can't just hold out your bat and score a lot of points.
With the “Dornenglanz X,” you can either keep the ball in play very safely or go on the offensive yourself to put pressure on your opponent and bring your own stronger side into play.
If you find yourself under pressure, chop blocks with the Dornenglanz X are much more effective than passive blocking. However, these are also possible if necessary and at least have a short, flat ball trajectory.
Undercut defense is also possible with the Dornenglanz X on occasion, but not as an essential element of your own playing system.
Conclusion: The “Dornenglanz X” is not a rubber for classic defenders, but for offensive players who mainly use their backhand to bring their strong forehand side into play.
The Dornenglanz X is also very well suited for players who play “material” on both sides.
Playing characteristics (1.0 mm version):
Please note that, as always with long pimples, the information on speed, disruptive effect, and control only applies to the OX version. This is important to emphasize because the 1.0 mm version is very experimental and unusually fast and powerful. The sponge is the same as that of the SpinLord Keiler, which speaks for itself. As with the Mantikor, the bonding between the top-sheet and the sponge is of particularly high quality.
While the version with sponge is usually better for defending against undercuts than the Ox version, this is not the case here. The 1.0 mm version is intended for players who have previously played with the Keiler in 1.2 mm, for example, and want significantly more spin at a similar speed – at the expense of control, of course. No other manufacturer offers anything similar, and this version is also extremely expensive to produce. The 1.0 mm version is therefore more of an experiment for specialists than a mass-market product.
The right blade:
The blade should be at least an all-round blade in terms of speed, preferably faster. However, combining it with slow defensive blades (Lion Defense Pro, Lion Shield) is likely to be pointless.
Note on assembly:
We recommend assembling long pimples without sponge (ox) with adhesive film. Please note that this is not included in the scope of delivery.

The values given for speed, spin, control and disruption are based on our own tests. They may therefore differ from the manufacturer's specifications.
Some values may vary, for example the weight of table tennis blades.
OX rubbers should be attached to the blade using an adhesive sheet. This is not included if you purchase a SpinLord rubber.
For rubbers with sponge, use a suitable VOC-free glue to attach them to the blade. Do not use glue sticks, adhesives containing solvents or any adhesive not specifically designed for table tennis rubbers.
Rubbers should only be attached to sealed blades.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that the rubber can be reattached multiple times. Depending on the type of sponge used, it may be damaged when removed from the blade, even with professional assembly.
Please also note that rubbers may warp to a greater or lesser extent depending on the type. Consequently, the amount of rubber adhesive required to assemble the racket varies from rubber to rubber.
