SpinLord’s ‘Gipfelsturm’ is a completely new type of pimpled rubber. Although the pimples are longer than those on most long-pimpled rubbers, this rubber plays almost like a short-pimpled one.
The advantage is that it is at least as dangerous as medium-length pimples.

The Gipfelsturm achieves this thanks to its unique pimple shape. At 1.65 mm, the pimples are not only very long, but also very wide at the tip (1.98 mm) and conical in shape – meaning they are even wider at the base. The spacing between the pimples is very narrow, at just over 1.0 mm. The surfaces of the pimples are ribbed.

It is therefore difficult to classify the ‘Gipfelsturm’ as a short, medium-length or long pimple. However, we consider a classification as a short pimple to be the most appropriate. ‘Medium-length’ would also be possible, but the ‘Gipfelsturm’ has nothing in common with a long pimple.

Although the rubber and sponge are medium-hard, the ‘Gipfelsturm’ has a soft feel. Both the rubber surface and the sponge are very elastic. Unlike other short-pimpled rubbers, the pimples can wobble slightly, particularly when blocking balls close to the table. The sponge also provides a strong catapult effect.

This rubber is ideal for spin-oriented play, whether you want to flick the ball over the table or play a topspin shot. Blocks and counter-attacks are very effective and pleasant to play with the ‘Gipfelsturm’. They can be executed both aggressively at high speed and in a more passive manner. In any case, the ‘Gipfelsturm’ is dangerous enough to force your opponent into making mistakes. Backspin shots and powerful strokes are also possible, though many other rubbers are better suited to these.

However, the ‘Gipfelsturm’ is not as easy to play as conventional short pimples. Furthermore, the rubber is slightly heavier. It is the best choice for experienced players looking for a combination of high speed, plenty of spin and a good disruptive effect.

The ‘Waran’ is even faster, but significantly less dangerous. The ‘Degu’ offers even more spin, but is slower and also less dangerous. The ‘Keiler’, like the ‘Gipfelsturm’, is fast and dangerous, whilst being even easier to play with; however, it is not as well suited to spin-based play. We hope this comparison helps you to better understand the characteristics of the ‘Gipfelsturm’.

Please note that this rubber cannot be manufactured with a sponge thickness greater than 1.8 mm. However, we believe that 1.8 mm will be the best choice for most players.

Due to its distinctive pimple shape, we have categorised this rubber under both ‘short pimples’ and ‘medium-length pimples’.

OX rubbers should be attached to the blade using an adhesive sheet. This is not included if you purchase a SpinLord rubber.

For rubbers with sponge, use a suitable VOC-free glue to attach them to the blade. Do not use glue sticks, adhesives containing solvents or any adhesive not specifically designed for table tennis rubbers.

Rubbers should only be attached to sealed blades.

Please note that we cannot guarantee that the rubber can be reattached multiple times. Depending on the type of sponge used, it may be damaged when removed from the blade, even with professional assembly.

Please also note that rubbers may warp to a greater or lesser extent depending on the type. Consequently, the amount of rubber adhesive required to assemble the racket varies from rubber to rubber.
Please refer to the instructions for using the rubber adhesive.
