Like all blades in the MIG series, the SpinLord MIG2 was developed by Michael Schneider and manufactured in his cutting-edge facility in Neuwied, Germany.
This sets it apart from our previous blades. The MIG2's striking face measures approximately 157 x 152 mm, which is similar to that of many other SpinLord blades. The slightly larger striking face is designed to provide greater impact security for players using pimples. The handle is much longer (approximately 10.5 cm) and quite thick. Consequently, the MIG2 is perfectly balanced and less top-heavy than other balsa blades. Conversely, MIG blades are ideal for players with larger hands. Therefore, this blade cannot be recommended for use by young players, but this is not the intended target group in terms of price and playability anyway.
The MIG2 is a balsa blade, although the core veneer is kiri, not balsa. The MIG2 comprises seven veneers (five + two) in the following combination (total thickness approximately 8.5 mm):
• Beech (0.6 mm exterior veneer)
• Balsa (2.0 mm)
• Carbon fleece
• Kiri (3.2 mm core veneer).
• Carbon fleece
• Balsa (2.0 mm)
• Beech (0.6 mm exterior veneer).
Although it is not a combination blade, it still dampens very strongly in passive play due to the outward-shifted balsa veneers. In offensive play, inserts made of thin carbon fleece and a kiri core veneer provide the necessary power and stability.
The exterior beech veneers enable high rotation values for inverted rubber and create a lot of disruptive effects when used with pimple-out or antispin rubber. Although beech is a hardwood, the overall feel is very soft because the outward-shifted balsa veneers significantly affect the ball stop (the balsa is of an unusually high quality and is rather soft). This blade has a distinctive 'balsa feel' and does not suffer from the common problem of excessive vibration during rapid offensive strikes.
It can be combined with all types of rubber, but will particularly appeal to players using short or long pimples, or anti-spin rubber. Compared to our other balsa blades, the MIG2 is faster and offers slightly better playability, albeit at the cost of being heavier at around 88 g (unfortunately, a lighter blade is not available). Therefore, the MIG2 is a controllable, medium-speed offensive blade.
It excels in topspins, as well as blocks and counters. It is also effective for undercut balls, though not so much for undercut defence. This blade is well suited to hard shots.
Like all blades from this manufacturer, it has an excellent finish with rounded edges and a high-quality face seal. Notably, it has exceptional resistance to distortion, particularly compared to balsa blades from other German manufacturers. The handles are made of solid, undyed Sitka spruce.

The playing surfaces (outer veneers) of this table tennis blade must be sealed to prevent damage to the blade.
If they are not sealed, the rubber adhesive can seep into the top veneer, causing it to flake off.
Furthermore, the top veneer may fray when the rubber is removed.
