The ‘Nashorn’s’ pimples are almost cylindrical in shape. Only under a magnifying glass can you see that they are slightly conical. They are also quite wide, and are only slightly higher than the permitted minimum of 1.0 mm. The spacing between the pimples is quite wide on average. The tops of the pimples are finely ribbed.
However, what makes the 'Nashorn' special is its rubber compound. It has been newly developed and differs significantly from previous rubber compounds. Due to its high proportion of new synthetic polymers, it is highly elastic as well as grippy and soft.
This makes the Nashorn the first short-pimpled rubber whose pimples produce a distinctly noticeable 'wobble effect' during play. Furthermore, its spin values are very high for a short-pimpled rubber. The Nashorn can generate such a high degree of spin that stroke techniques similar to those used with inverted rubbers are possible. However, it is also resistant to incoming spin.
The pace of the 'Nashorn' at 1.5 mm is equivalent to that of the 'ORKan' at 1.8 mm and the 'Degu' at 2.0 mm. At 2.0 mm, the Nashorn is slightly slower than the Waran with the same sponge thickness. Overall, the pace can therefore be described as controlled and offensive.
The sponge of the 'Nashorn' is a slightly softer version of that used in the 'Waran II' (hardness approx. 42–44 degrees = medium-hard). It is therefore also very open-pored.
The 'Nashorn's' ball contact is generally rather soft and comparable to that of the 'ORKan'. While the sponge on the 'ORKan' is slightly softer, the top sheet on the 'Nashorn' is significantly softer, which roughly balances things out.
The 'Nashorn' may not appeal to every player as it is noticeably weaker than the 'Waran' for powerful shots. However, flips, counter-attacks and blocks can be played very easily with good control using the Nashorn. Back-spin shots are also very well suited to the Nashorn.
It is often difficult for opponents to read and is, overall, noticeably more dangerous than most other short-pimpled rubbers.
We would particularly recommend the Nashorn to players who play close to the table. With a sponge thickness of 1.5 mm, its blocking strengths are emphasised, whereas with thicker sponges, the possibilities for powerful counter-attacks are maximised.
A key strength of the Nashorn is its forgiving nature when the ball is struck imprecisely or outside the 'sweet spot'. This makes it ideal for weaker players.
As a backhand rubber, the Nashorn is ideal for players who want to score points with varied blocks and counter-attacks. These can be so effective that they can disrupt the opponent’s attacking play.
On the forehand, the Nashorn is ideal for players using long pimples or anti-spin rubbers on their backhand. If your backhand is the dominant side of your game, you can utilise the Nashorn’s strengths in ball placement and spin variations to surprise your opponent and bring your backhand back into play.
The Nashorn rubber is suitable for players of all levels, except top players, who generally prefer harder rubbers.
Incidentally, contrary to what is stated on the packaging, the 'Nashorn' is actually a lightweight rubber.

The values given for speed, spin, control and disruption are based on our own tests. They may therefore differ from the manufacturer's specifications.
Some values may vary, for example the weight of table tennis blades.
OX rubbers should be attached to the blade using an adhesive sheet. This is not included if you purchase a SpinLord rubber.
For rubbers with sponge, use a suitable VOC-free glue to attach them to the blade. Do not use glue sticks, adhesives containing solvents or any adhesive not specifically designed for table tennis rubbers.
Rubbers should only be attached to sealed blades.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that the rubber can be reattached multiple times. Depending on the type of sponge used, it may be damaged when removed from the blade, even with professional assembly.
Please also note that rubbers may warp to a greater or lesser extent depending on the type. Consequently, the amount of rubber adhesive required to assemble the racket varies from rubber to rubber.
