The new premium version of the RD1 is an exceptional all-round blade. Its veneer combination has been significantly altered compared to the original RD1.
The outer veneers are now made of limba. The intermediate veneers are made of acacia and the core veneer is made of ayous.
This new combination of veneers is slightly faster than that of the old RD1. This new version is therefore more of an 'All+' blade and is marginally faster than the 'Ultra Allround'.
As with the previous RD1 model, the handles are slightly thicker, although the dimensions remain unchanged. This makes the blade less suitable for junior players, but better suited to those with larger hands than the Ultra Allround.
The handle design remains the same, but the wood used for the handle in the new version is particularly high-quality Ayous, which is dyed in Italy rather than poplar, which is dyed in China. This improves the blade's appearance and playing characteristics. This change is also the main reason for the higher price.
Overall, this blade has a rather handle-heavy weight distribution – certainly significantly more so than the Ultra Allround.
The playing surface measures 155 x 152 mm, which is the SpinLord standard.
The new RD1 version is also slightly stiffer than the previous RD1 or Ultra Allround models. This results in greater speed reserves for offensive shots.
The ball contact is medium-hard, leaning towards the softer side.
When used with the right rubbers, the RD1 enables all playing strategies from DEF to OFF-. This classic veneer combination also has the advantage of being compatible with all types of rubber.
Overall, this blade is a no-frills, slightly faster all-rounder without any special grip technologies or similar features. However, it is of the finest quality and offers excellent playing balance.

If they are not sealed, the rubber adhesive can seep into the top veneer, causing it to flake off.
Furthermore, the top veneer may fray when the rubber is removed.
