The 'Stachelfeuer Premium' is an improved version of the 'Stachelfeuer'.
The rubber compound now provides significantly better grip. This results in slightly lower speed due to the braking effect of the additional grip, a slightly softer and more elastic feel on impact and a greater disruptive effect. Otherwise, the rubber feels very similar as it is merely a higher-quality version of the original Stachelfeuer rubber. In this respect, the product description also remains essentially unchanged. Visually, both versions are identical. Sales of the old version will, of course, be discontinued once the current stock has sold out – after all, the upgrade was prompted by quality issues with the old version, such as fluctuating grip. The fact that the higher grip improves the overall playing characteristics is an added bonus. However, there is one minor drawback: the higher grip makes the rubber slightly more susceptible to the opponent’s spin.
We have left the rubber specifications unchanged.
The texture:
The Stachelfeuer’s elastic pimples are very long, thin and soft. The spacing between the pimples is moderate.
The Stachelfeuer's pimple tops are flat and extremely grippy – almost sticky.
Incidentally, the pimples are very durable.
Playing characteristics:
The SpinLord Stachelfeuer Premium is a slow long-pimple rubber. Although it is slightly faster than many cured long-pimple rubbers, its speed is lower than that of most grippy long-pimple rubbers. However, it does offer good speed reserves during active play.
Despite its low speed and the high level of control that this brings, the Stachelfeuer has a considerable disruptive effect, which can be described as above average. However, it does not quite match the disruptive effect of the Dornenglanz.
The SpinLord Stachelfeuer Premium can be used for both play at the table and backspin defence. It is also ideal for executing your own offensive shots. However, it is not recommended for a purely passive style of play, but rather for a modern, versatile defensive game utilising the wrist. Overall, therefore, the Stachelfeuer is an all-round rubber.
Comparison with other rubbers:
We recommend this rubber to players who find the slower all-round pimple rubbers already on offer, such as the SpinLord Agenda and Blitzschlag, too fast. Compared to the new Dornenglanz X, the main difference is that the pimples on the Stachelfeuer Premium do not bend as sharply. The Stachelfeuer Premium also offers an even better grip than the Dornenglanz X.
The sponge version:
The 1.0 mm sponge is a medium-hard Chinese sponge. This makes the Stachelfeuer slightly faster and more dangerous whilst offering slightly less control. This sponge is similar to those used by other manufacturers for their long pimples. Overall, the Stachelfeuer with sponge remains easy to play and is ideal for players seeking highly controllable pimpled rubber with sponge.
In the sponge version, the surfaces of the pips are, due to the manufacturing process, inevitably less sticky than in the OX version.

The values given for speed, spin, control and disruption are based on our own tests. They may therefore differ from the manufacturer's specifications.
Some values may vary, for example the weight of table tennis blades.
OX rubbers should be attached to the blade using an adhesive sheet. This is not included if you purchase a SpinLord rubber.
For rubbers with sponge, use a suitable VOC-free glue to attach them to the blade. Do not use glue sticks, adhesives containing solvents or any adhesive not specifically designed for table tennis rubbers.
Rubbers should only be attached to sealed blades.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that the rubber can be reattached multiple times. Depending on the type of sponge used, it may be damaged when removed from the blade, even with professional assembly.
Please also note that rubbers may warp to a greater or lesser extent depending on the type. Consequently, the amount of rubber adhesive required to assemble the racket varies from rubber to rubber.
