The SpinLord Tanuki Pro is a completely Japanese-made “high-end” table tennis rubber of the latest generation and a modernized version of the Tanuki. Visually, both rubbers are identical, especially since the sponge is also the same color.
In the medium term, the Tanuki Pro will completely replace the Tanuki. However, as we still had to purchase large quantities of the first version of the Tanuki from the factory for the production of the Tanuki Pro, both versions will continue to be sold in parallel for a few more years.
Like the Tanuki, the Tanuki Pro was not developed by us, but by Japanese professional players. This is even more noticeable with the Tanuki Pro than with the Tanuki, as it differs greatly from our own Chinese-made rubbers. In terms of play, it is now even more tailored to the needs of professional players.
The sponge of the Tanuki Pro is a harder version of the sponge of the Tanuki (manufacturer's specification 47.5 degrees, feels softer).
The topsheet of the Tanuki Pro is grippy, rather soft and highly tensioned.
Compared to the Tanuki, the Tanuki Pro offers improved acceleration (catapult effect), elasticity, and spin values.
However, the Tanuki Pro does not offer quite as much control on undercut balls as the Tanuki.
Important: The Tanuki is still not tuned or boosted. Nevertheless, no other rubber in our range has such a high catapult effect, such a long ball contact time and such a strong built-in speed glue effect as the Tanuki Pro (including a rich sound, by the way). The incoming ball literally digs into the topsheet and is then thrown back with incredible acceleration.
Of course, you have to like and want all of this: there will certainly be some players who prefer the old Tanuki with its more direct ball contact and more linear playing characteristics.
We also guess those who don't like the latest generation of ESN Tensor rubbers will not be happy with the Tanuki Pro.
The Tanuki Pro is particularly suitable for players whose game is based on explosive topspins rather than hard shots.
The Tanuki Pro can be combined particularly well with faster blades, with the blade providing the necessary power and the Tanuki Pro providing spin and catapult. Such a combination can certainly be used in the highest leagues.
Quality and durability are at the highest level!
The price-performance ratio is unbeatable, because the Tanuki Pro is a top Japanese rubber and yet no more expensive than many rubbers from China!
The Tanuki Pro is slightly heavier than the Tanuki due to its harder sponge, but it is still a pleasantly light rubber (weight approx. 64 g uncut max., with the square being approx. 20% larger than a rubber from Friendship, for example).

The values given for speed, spin, control and disruption are based on our own tests. They may therefore differ from the manufacturer's specifications.
Some values may vary, for example the weight of table tennis blades.
OX rubbers should be attached to the blade using an adhesive sheet. This is not included if you purchase a SpinLord rubber.
For rubbers with sponge, use a suitable VOC-free glue to attach them to the blade. Do not use glue sticks, adhesives containing solvents or any adhesive not specifically designed for table tennis rubbers.
Rubbers should only be attached to sealed blades.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that the rubber can be reattached multiple times. Depending on the type of sponge used, it may be damaged when removed from the blade, even with professional assembly.
Please also note that rubbers may warp to a greater or lesser extent depending on the type. Consequently, the amount of rubber adhesive required to assemble the racket varies from rubber to rubber.
