Mantikor
The SpinLord Mantikor is a more variable version of the SpinLord Waran.
The pimple geometry is the same, but the pimples are arranged vertically instead of horizontally. This increases the speed and also makes sense, as the rubber compound is somewhat slower, but more elastic and spin-friendly.
The sponge is also the same as that of the Waran. It is therefore still a fairly soft sponge (hardness approx. 40 degrees).
Overall, the Mantikor is not slower than the Waran, perhaps even a little faster. It is also more variable to play and can generate significantly more rotation, even if it is not an spin-maximizing short pimple like the SpinLord Degu. Its strengths lie above all in precise and powerful counter-attacking and blocking with hard finishing strokes.
The Mantikor is even more dangerous for the opponent than the Waran, but also somewhat more demanding to play. However, the disruptive effect does not reach the values of the most dangerous short pimples such as the SpinLord Nashorn.
A special feature of the Mantikor is its explosive acceleration on attacking shots.
The really powerful popping sound is also very pleasant.
The SpinLord Mantikor is a pleasantly light rubber.
The pimples are extremely durable, pimple breakage is virtually impossible with the Mantikor.
Overall, the Mantikor is not a niche rubber like the Gepard, the Gipfelsturm or the Minotaur, it is suitable for the masses. Players who have previously played a rubber such as Waran, Friendship 802 SP, Wyvern etc. will certainly be able to cope with the Mantikor without any major changes and in many cases will even play better than before.
Conclusion:
The Mantikor is suitable for all players who
- are looking for a really fast and versatile short pimple.
- do not want to win the game primarily through disruptive effects or rotation.
- are not looking for a beginner's pimple, but a pimple that can be played up to the highest levels and requires regular training.
